Our Mission
Our mission is to support you as you pursue your passions and live life to your fullest potential while forging deep, meaningful connections.
THE ADVANTAGE OF A NOT‑FOR‑PROFIT COMMUNITY
As a not-for-profit community, The Winsberg at Green Cay is committed to a mission that places the well-being and security of our residents first. Every dollar we earn is reinvested directly into the community, enhancing our services, facilities, and programming rather than being distributed to shareholders. This commitment allows us to continually elevate the quality of life for our residents, ensuring that The Winsberg remains a place where people can thrive.
Our not-for-profit status also enables us to offer a benevolence fund, a safety net designed to provide security for those who may outlive their financial resources through no fault of their own. This means that no resident is asked to leave due to financial hardship, reinforcing our dedication to being a true lifelong home.
At The Winsberg, our focus is on providing residents with a vibrant and enriching lifestyle while offering peace of mind. Our mission-driven approach sets us apart as a community that prioritizes the care, growth, and security of every resident in a sustainable and supportive environment.

I found Senior Living pretty much out of the gate. A friend of mine was working in finance at one of the biggest Life Plan Communities in the country. When an opportunity became available, he invited me over. It was a fantastic learning experience, both professionally and personally.
My transition to Florida is not a very original story. Warm weather and taxes – isn’t that how everyone ends up here? A friend called me in the dead of winter and offered me a career-advancing move at a startup in sunny Naples, Florida, so I took it.
At that time, we were pre-selling the community prior to construction, so it’s similar to what we’re doing here with The Winsberg at Green Cay.
In a way, this is more exciting. We have little more than a 15-acre plot of land that doesn’t even have an actual mailing address yet. But, we are steadily building a community, event by event, of like-minded seniors who are active and love the proximity to Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands, are excited about going on the developmental journey with us and are eager to experience the unfolding of the plan they’ve made for their future. We are getting to know them, their desires and dislikes, as they get to know us. And a budding feeling of trust is starting to take shape, along with a palpable enthusiasm that’s gaining momentum. We’re building something meaningful, and it feels good.

My career in senior living isn’t just a job to me; it’s about creating lasting relationships, building meaningful connections, and being part of a team. Seeing such a vast network of family members, friends, residents, and coworkers supporting each other is incredible. But for me, building a close personal relationship one-on-one is far more important. I believe everything happens for a reason, and all good things happen when you least expect them to.
I began my senior living career at 27 years old, starting in Community Life Services and advancing to sales and marketing within the community. Born and raised in South Florida, I moved out of the state for a short period and then relocated back to Florida to be closer to family.
I have a keen eye for details when it comes to planning, organizing, and learning new things. Fortunately, I get to dig into more information every day.
When I’m not working, I like spending time with my dog, family and friends. I have a passion for learning new things and surrounding myself with positive people who encourage, support, and bring out the best in me. That’s exactly what I’ve found being part of this team.

I’m told there’s a natural matriculation into senior living from residential real estate – so I guess in that respect, I found my spot. But my personal journey here was more challenging.
I was living in New York City, selling real estate with Douglas Elliman for 20+ years, when my mom suddenly passed away. Although she was 83, I was not prepared for that transition. My dad, who was 87 at the time, was equally unprepared. It seems Mom had been doing it all during the entirety of their marriage – getting the groceries, doing the housekeeping, picking up medications, and such. As they got older, there were doctor appointments and bloodwork two or three times a week. Dad couldn’t drive anymore, so Mom did all of that. Now that Mom was gone, my siblings, who lived 35 minutes away, could only go by and check on him once a week.
So, a couple of weeks after the funeral, I drove down to spend some time with him. That’s when I realized just how dire the situation was. He no longer had any friends around, and the lack of company had brought on severe depression. He wasn’t bathing or eating properly, so I packed my bags and moved in for what turned out to be the toughest year of my life. Dad was very adamant about aging at home.
Neither of us knew that there was a viable alternative that not only would have provided the care he needed but also housekeeping and dining options, amenities, and social activities, it would have been a real game changer. While it is just amazing that I got that time with him at the end of his life, I truly believe it would have been a much more beautiful experience if he had been somewhere like The Winsberg – for both of us.

Isn’t getting older just a part of life? We all do it; it’s certainly not a disability or a liability. Maybe this is wisdom I’ve finally grown into as I grow older. But I really do enjoy the whole process of working with seniors. Actually, I don’t even like to use the word “seniors.” It’s unfortunate to judge people by their age because when you do, you miss out on all the richness of who they truly are. I’m so inspired by the people I meet in our business. Not only have they really lived well, but they continue to lead expansive lives – they’re planning cruises, volunteering, collecting art, and taking squash lessons and pottery classes. I talked to a gentleman yesterday who still walks 10 miles every day.
I have lived and worked in 12 states and two different countries, traveled all over the world, and I have always savored the experience of meeting new people. What I truly love about my job is that this group of people has great stories to tell – tales of exotic travels, harrowing occupational journeys and milestone accomplishments, and episodes of heroism and heartbreak. They’ve got strong opinions that they’ve earned every inch of. And it is all there, every day, in every phone call and home visit. They’ve got a lot going on and even more to get done, and I am so lucky to be part of their journey.
I’ve worked in two other communities prior to coming to The Winsberg at Green Cay. I am so thrilled to be back in Florida and especially thrilled to be back in this industry.

Born and raised in Illinois, with one stint in North Carolina, I’ve recently settled in Florida to be closer to family and escape harsh winters. With a background in sales and hospitality, I’ve spent the past 17 years dedicated to senior living. My passion lies in connecting with residents, understanding their needs, and guiding them through lifestyle changes.
As a matter of fact, my dad lived with me for the last 10 years of his life. I truly believe our residents deserve a retirement full of great camaraderie; comprehensive healthcare options; superb amenities; and an overall fun, active and engaging lifestyle. This is their time to enjoy life to its fullest, and that is what I’m most excited to deliver to them at The Winsberg.
I look forward to being a part of the success of this beautiful community representing the richness and history of South Florida. It will always be a joy for me to help future residents find their next place to call home!

I fell in love with working with seniors at my very first job in senior living at a startup nonprofit community in Pittsburgh in 2001. Forming relationships with those residents changed my career path and my life.
After 15 years in various roles at that original community, I became the Marketing Director. I greatly enjoyed connecting with seniors and creating meaningful relationships with them. After being presented a great opportunity to work at another nonprofit senior living community, my husband, Bill, and I moved to South Florida. I worked as a Senior Lifestyle Counselor at that community for the last eight years.
Now, as a Senior Living Counselor at The Winsberg at Green Cay, I’m excited to continue building relationships with our residents and to help them truly make the most of their retirement lifestyle here by assisting others to find the perfect destination for their senior living journey.
When I’m not working, you can find Bill and me traveling, cooking, and soaking up all the fun in the sun that Florida has to offer!

I was born in Philadelphia and raised in the Dominican Republic, where I developed a deep appreciation for culture and community. My father, a cardiovascular surgeon at the University of Pennsylvania, inspired me to pursue medicine. However, his advice to embrace life and enjoy the journey led me to choose a different path filled with exploration and adventure.
I hold a major in Advertising and a minor in Graphic Design, which have played a significant role in shaping my creative approach to everything I do. One of the most transformative experiences of my life came in Italy, where I became a Maestra Gelatera. Working alongside Nonne (grandmothers) who passed down generations of gelato recipes, I learned that true legacy is found in the stories shared between family members. This reinforced my belief in the value of family, tradition, connection, and the wisdom that seniors hold.
Having lived in incredible cities like New York City, Salzburg, Bologna, Milan, Houston, Orlando, and Miami, I now call Fort Lauderdale home, where I live with my amazing family and two beautiful dogs. As the youngest of three children, I’ve always felt a balance between independence and connection. This led me to become a business owner, where I honed my leadership skills. But it was my transition into the senior living industry that truly ignited my passion.
Seniors embody an invaluable wealth of experience, wisdom, and resilience that we must cherish. My mission is to empower seniors, creating communities where they can continue to live with purpose, dignity, and connection. Every day, I am inspired by their strength, and I feel honored to play a part in preserving their legacies. The opportunity to serve and advocate for seniors, ensuring they can live their later years with the care and respect they deserve, is what drives me forward.
